Greener Grass is a staged sculpture which examines the balance between wants and needs in relationships. Two school chairs sit opposite facing a brick wall. The inside of the wall is hollow, composed of false materials, and shrouds a bed of grass between the panels. The wall is a metaphor for barriers in relationships. A damaged shopping basket sits upon one desk housing kept flowers gifted from a relationships past. On the other desk sits a scale, displaying the weight from a stack of paper that include the phrases “a declaration of love” and “uncertainty”. The sculpture is a contemplation of balance, insecurity, and the dependence on give and take between two people.
