Madison Nicole May was born in 1994 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She studied Printmaking locally at Kendall College of Art and Design (KCAD) in pursuit of her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree which she obtained in May of 2016. Themes in her work include those of traditional gender roles, domesticity, abuse, and examining the violent impacts of those conditions on individuals and their relationships. 
While attending KCAD she held the position of President of Collective Pressure, KCAD’s Printmaking Club, and upon graduation she was awarded the Studio Excellence Award in Printmaking for Graduating BFA students in 2016. She also received the distinction of receiving a Jurors Pick Award for Michigan Emerging Graduate Artists Juried Exhibition (MEGA) 2016 at the Urban Institute for Contemporary Arts in Grand Rapids, Michigan. In July of 2016, Madison was a visiting artist at the Lamont Gallery in Exeter, NH where she participated in a gallery talk for Public/Private: The Arc of Longing, which exhibited some of her works. She currently works in Grand Rapids as the Print Shop Technician at KCAD and Manager of GreenLion Studios, a Fine Art Gallery and Tattoo Studio.
