Madison Nicole May was born in 1994 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She studied Printmaking locally at Kendall College of Art and Design (KCAD) in pursuit of her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree which she obtained in May of 2016. Themes in her work vary, though often include those of domesticity, intimacy, constructed comfort, and the impact these constructs have on individuals and their relationships. 


Notable accomplishments include receiving the distinction of a Jurors Choice Award for the Michigan Emerging Graduate Artists Juried Exhibition (MEGA) 2016 at the Urban Institute for Contemporary Arts in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and the 2nd place excellence award in the juried exhibition Rinse/Repeat at the Ann Arbor Art Center in 2018. She has been a visiting artist at the Lamont Gallery in Exeter, NH and has been an artist in residence at Zea Mays Printmaking in Florence, MA. In the summer of 2017 she opened Bend Gallery, a small contemporary art gallery on the Avenue for the Arts which also houses her home and studio. Currently she teaches and works in Grand Rapids as the Print Shop Technician at KCAD, and is a pastry chef at New Hotel Mertens, specializing in French pâtisserie.
